Elk cove Beach ~ aka Greenwood Beach

Elk Cove Beach, aka Greenwood Beach

Elk Cove beach, Greenwood Beach, and is part of Greenwood Beach State Park. Starting
in the 1880's, the beach was the site of a logging operation owned by the lumber
baron L.E. White. The remains of the old dam & rail line are still evident
in places. The Lumber baron's mansion retreat still overlooks the cove
(now a luxury BnB inn, see Elk Cove Inn below). The cove is the
an excellent launching point for sea kayaking with many sea
caves to explore both north and south of the cove. The
spring steelhead run, from the ocean to Greenwood
Creek, makes for a great fishing spot.
